Digital Distribution platforms
One of the things that strikes me about what’s out there, is how incomplete the models are; and how much of the marketing spend now falls on the producer. The person least able to afford it, having just sold all his stuff and his friends stuff to make the film! Essentially we are still in the maths that applies for big productions- marketing = 50% of budget. The problem is, there are no real entrepreneurs in distribution out there taking risks- it’s against the nature of the beast. But it’s what will move us forward.
